A federal judge has dismissed a class-action lawsuit against Dolce & Gabbana USA, absolving the American subsidiary of liability for the allegedly failed DGFamily NFT project. The initiative, led by the Italian parent company Dolce & Gabbana SRL, raised over $25 million with promises of exclusive digital and physical luxury goods.

US District Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald found no evidence that D&G USA operated as an alter ego of its Italian counterpart, rejecting claims of shared control or misconduct. The ruling underscores the legal separation between corporate entities, even as investors contend the project was quietly abandoned.

The case faces significant hurdles with D&G USA removed as a defendant and foreign parties remaining unserved. The decision highlights growing scrutiny of NFT ventures by traditional brands entering Web3, particularly when deliverables fail to materialize.
